Poetry reading.
I have to be honest the poetry reading was really boring. It felt like I was reading for ever and ever. I think they could of just shortened this chapter by just putting all the words and difinitions. The section on the Meter and Rhythm was very confusing, I don't know if any of you guys felt the same? But I do have to say, that I ejnoyed picking the poems out and reading it out to my group. It was very interesting to hear, so many different views on one poem. Heck the more I read my poem, the more different points of view I had. I could of sat in class all day listening to Mrs. Stephanie read poems to us! She does such a wonderful job.. Way to go Mrs. Stephanie :) Mrs. Stephanie thank you for bringing the poetry book from Sandra Cisneros, I couldn't put it down. I kept me reading just seeing how well I related to some of her poems. I will defently have to get one of her books. I am really nervous about going the poetry slam. I am ok in the class room reading out loud and acting with my group. I don't know about being in the spot light with a microphone and judges:\ I am not good at writting any kind of poems. But I guess it will be what it is. The last project the Salon, I am very excited about, can't wait to see the outcome. At first I really didn't understand it much. I read the hand out like three times. I was a little concern, until I arrived to class today, and some of our classmates told me that they didn't understand it either. Then Mrs. Stephanie explained it and we got the picture as clear as day!

Agree with you about the Introduction to Poetry. It was way too long, and the meter and rhythm part was really confusing. I didn't mind getting up in front of the class to read poems out of the book, but I am nervous about the poetry slam too. I don't think I can write poetry, and I really don't want to read it out loud in front of people. I am kind of worried about the Salon thing too. It is hard to find information to present and pick parts of books for the class to read.
ReplyDeleteUgh. I didn't care for the entire second half of the Intro to Poetry section. Way too technical...
ReplyDeleteMake sure to ask me questions about the salon, if you need to!
