In class blog number 3
I am very disappointed to not have the down and dirty quizes every week. But I am enjoying this class more and more. As time passes by and I learn new things, I think I couldn't have made a better decision! I have to admit I was a little intimidated at first about makeing our individual short story fiction. Once you started drawing your little bubble technique, you where on your way on working wonders. When we went to the writting lab, I don't know about you guys but I had no idea what I was going to write bout. But once I started writing you can't stop. (thank god for that one) Of course everyone was done writing before me. Then we started talking about the 10 minute play. Thanks Mrs. Stephanie for putting us in groups that made a lot easier for us. Jeff, Megan, Deb and I are going to be doing the Fugue play by Laura Elizabeth Miller. We briefly talked about our characters. I just can't wait to do this play I am really looking forward to doing this, because I am one of those people who don't like to stand in front of people and talk or act etc. But I really feel comfortable with all the class mates I think we all kind of got to know each other pretty well. I can't wait to see the other performaces, I think one of our groups should add Mrs. Stephanie as one of the characters or as a extra I think we would all enjoy that :)

I think we have a great class, and I am so glad you joined it. I liked the bubble technique too. It helped me sort through a bunch of thoughts and put them in some sort of order, unlike how I usually operate for a writing assignment.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of summer school used to make me nauseous. But i will have to say, this has been my favorite class i have taken at ICC. I was very intimidated at first but i am really enjoying and even looking forward to our classes. Professor S definitely knows what she's doing.
ReplyDeleteI was worried about writing the flash fiction story too. I think the bubble thing we did halped a little bit, but not very much. My story ended up not being about what I wrote in the bubbles. I also thought it was good that Stephanie put us in groups for the plays. I think it worked better that way because we don't all know each other very well.
ReplyDeleteI sucked at the flash fiction assignment I really thought I was going to get it eventually but my mind was blank literally but I think the 10 min play will be fun.
ReplyDeleteI loved flash fiction. I find it very easy and it comes to me very easily as I write. I very much enjoy writing much more so than reading. I love writing and making up the characters as I go. I like the idea that the story is my own and I can make it go and do any thing you want it to.
ReplyDeleteSweet students o' mine,
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying myself this summer, too. And, yes, Olivia, it's probably only fair if someone makes me "act" tomorrow in one of the plays.
I'd love to see another (!) blog post about something you read this week... How's your independent novel going?
Olivia, I was also worried about the short story fiction. I thought I am not creative at all how the heck am i going to write a short story. I loved the bubble technique. Although it didn't help me "write" the story, it gave me good ideas for one. I enjoyed watching your play "Fugue." I don't know why you don't like acting in front of people, you were very good. You fit the character well.
ReplyDeleteHey there Olivia, I am really enjoying the class too. I was also kind of worried about the flash fiction assignment too. But as we started working through the bubble techniques, I got some great ideas. I started reading some of them today, and they are very enjoyable. I also really liked working with you, Deb and Jeff. I think our play turned out very well!
